Numerous opportunities to exercise
Strong traditions, various opportunities for sports and recreational activities, and Finland's only Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences at the University of Jyväskylä are what make Jyväskylä a true sports city. The 230 exercise and sports clubs operating in the region offer opportunities in more than 70 events.
People in the region have access to roughly 360 venues and 500km of hiking and ski trails. Winter treats are offered by the skating track in the Lutakko harbour and the warmly illuminated Rantaraitti hiking trail circling Lake Jyväsjärvi.
Dive into warm or cold water
Jyväskylä is home to AaltoAlvari, Finland's largest public pool in terms of water area. You can also dive into warm water at the panoramic Rantasipi Laajavuori spa. If you are not afraid of the cold, Jyväskylä offers a number of good ice swimming locations.
