On a night of high drama in Saint Paul, the sight of athletes sprawling on the ice was a familiar one.

The action all took place against the beautiful backdrop of Saint Paul Cathedral.

Ice Crew vs Tenacious Turtles was the first battle of the night.

A great crowd turned out to see their heroes, and many of them grabbed a perfect position next to the BF Goodrich Wallride.

That hazardous first obstacle treated some riders kindly...

But it also took its fair share of victims during a chaotic evening of racing.

Which way is the finish line?

The 16-foot-high step-up on the final turn proved to be the most brutal of all the track's obstacles.

Not for Scott Croxall though, who not only cleared it time after time but also entertained the crowd with a trick or two on his way over.

It was Croxall's Team Living the Dream that produced a stunning come-from-behind win to successfully defend its title.

Team LTD celebrate on the podium with the world championship trophy.

#

Joining Team LTD on the podium were Team Unrl in second place and Couch Garden Crew who came third.
