Living the Dream race to team win

Scott Croxall's Living the Dream in action in Belfast
Scott Croxall continued his one-man mission, leading his team to victory in Friday night's Ice Cross Downhill Team Competition at a frosty Belfast.

Canada's Scott Croxall led his team, Living the Dream, to a resounding Ice Cross Downhill World Championship victory on Friday in front of a frozen but frenzied Belfast crowd that celebrated the arrival of the world's fastest sport on skates at a breathtaking setting.

Red-hot Scott Croxall and his team-mates, Kyle Croxall, Cameron Naasz and Adam Horst, dominated the Red Bull Crashed Ice racing on Friday in front of the Parliament Buildings at Stormont, sweeping to four straight victories at speeds of up to 65kph down a 430-metre-long ice track in front of a crowd of 17,000 spectators to win the Team Competition ahead of Saturday's individual world championship racing.

Scott Croxall, the favourite to win Saturday's race after back-to-back triumphs in Finland (including his first Red Bull Crashed Ice win in Helsinki and a Riders Cup win in Jyäskylä) and who was also the fastest in Friday's International Shootout, was again in a league of his own, impressing the big crowd as Northern Ireland hosted the high-speed, rough and tumble racing for the first time with a series of brilliant sprint starts that put his team repeatedly in front of their rivals from the Round of 16 to the quarter-finals, the semi-finals and even in the final.

In an exciting final race down the track filled with bumps and jumps and a 40-metre descent, Living the Dream beat the Prestige Worldwide team made up of Dean Moriarity (CAN), Tristan Dugerdil (FRA), Reed Whiting (USA) and Pacôme Schmitt (FRA). The Croxall brothers blasted out of the starting gate and quickly took a lead down the Parliament Buildings steps. Moriarity made a series of spirited challenges to their lead but could not get past the two brothers. Despite the defeat in the finals, Prestige Worldwide still leads the Team World Championship competition with 1,800 points thanks to their victory in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in the first race. Living the Dream jumped to second place overall from seventh after a disappointing result in Saint Paul, while Ice Crew are in third overall with 1,360 points after taking fourth in Belfast.
