The capital of Minnesota hosts the third event of the season

The capital of Minnesota will host the third event of the season on the frozen banks of the Mississippi River on February 3-4, 2017. For the past five freezing-cold winters, Saint Paul has hosted the ice cross downhill competition, with a huge crowd of more than 100,000 people converging under the gaze of the imposing Cathedral of Saint Paul to witness the high-speed action that features skaters competing in four-man heats in a race to the bottom of a long ice track filled with obstacles. The sport appeals to what Americans like most in sports – a physically challenging, rough, tough sport coupled with high-speed action and agility. With local hero Cameron Naasz, a native of Minnesota, having clinched the title here in 2016, it promises to be another fierce competition as his rivals look to take his crown.

The sport of Ice Cross Downhill continues its residence in the "State of Hockey" with a 6th visit to the capital of Minnesota in 2017, as the sport continues to grow in popularity with US fans.
