German qualifying on a bobsled run in Winterberg

33 German and 38 international participants competed against each other in a German qualifier for the Ice Cross Downhill World Championship 2014.

After a stunning race on the bobsled run at Winterberg, three German participants, Falko Quinger, Andreas Maier and Florian Willer, as well as the Swiss skater, Alexandre Coppey, gained entry to the first event of the new season. Download the full list of results for the international athletes.

The four qualifiers are now officially participating at the first Red Bull Crashed Ice event of 2014 in Helsinki, Finland, on January 31 - February 1.

The four skaters will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Germany's former champion, Martin Niefnecker (pictured), who won the first world championship of ice cross downhill in 2010.
