The hills were alive with the sound of wheels on wood this August, when Marco and Luca Dallago held a summer camp at their insane lumber track in Graz, Austria.
The intensive ice cross downhill training was a family affair for adults and kids alike, with loved ones and locals helping and hanging out alongside the athletes in the Alpine surroundings.
Some serious talent is growing here
Ramps, rollers, gaps, hairpin turns – all the usual features were there – just without the ice. And, as if seeing riders in full pads and helmets caroming down a mountain wasn't crazy enough, the crew hauled in a giant airbag for landing massive flips and tricks. A good time was definitely had by all.
"Some serious talent is growing here," stated Marco, who, like Luca, has been stoked to see how fast interest in ice cross downhill has expanded worldwide.
One of the sport's biggest fans from South America is Camilo Gaez, a native of Chile who has participated in Red Bull Crashed Ice for two seasons. Camilo took advantage of the camp in Graz to prepare for 2016, and he came away more pumped than ever. "Amazing weekend," he said. "One of the best trips of my life!"
